Observation details
I finished scanning for waterfowl and then noticed a flock of 15 sandpiper flying up from the lagoons. I studied them for a while until I realized I should probably take a picture. The picture is at 26x when they were barely visible, but it still shows proper wing shape and structure (as opposed to DUNL, KILL, LEYE/GRYE). If they were PESA I would think a more stark dark/white contrast should be seen at the breast-line and armpits. Photos are not completely convincing or diagnostic, but I also was able to observe white lines on the upper wings when the flock was in low flight, though I did not get the proper vantage point to see the rump color. The flock flew to the west past the landfill (I chased it in the car).
