Media notes
Orange-crowned Warbler at Uplands Farm Sanctuary in Cold Spring Harbor, NY. Poor image but note no wing bars, brighter yellow undertail coverts and thin, sharp bill.
Observation details
Uncommon late fall migrant but typical in areas of appropriate habitat, especially during October when most of these birds arrive. I've been recording Orange-crowned Warbler almost annually at this location for the past few years and the goldenrod filled meadows offer exceptional habitat for this species. Possibly two individuals but one definitive OCWA feeding near the tops of goldenrod seeds heads. Gray-headed warbler with grayish upperparts washed with yellow and showing no wing bars. Underparts mostly pale yellow constrasting with brighter yellow undertail coverts. Very subtle streaking on sides but I never got a great, full frontal view of this bird. Sharp, thin Oreothlypis bill with narrow pale eye arcs and short, dark eye-line. Poor but diagnostic record images attached.
