Observation details
A continuing shorebird. Its bubble gum-orange legs immediately set it apart from the birds around it, and was perhaps most similar to the yellowlegs, but had different leg color, shorter bill, and this bird did demonstrate a methodical feeding pattern as mentioned in some of the field guides. Bill was all black, and there was not too much white about the face. As I was scoping the bird, it did partially raise its wings while it faced away from me, and I could see the lower half of the distinctive white "U" pattern on the upper-tail coverts - the black central feathers not reaching the dark tail edge.
