Observation details
***mega, found by Suzanne Sullivan yesterday Not present on arrival, but flocks were moving to the inner side and someone (Daan I think) picked up a candidate around 9 and we watched it for about an hour before the flock took off (no idea where they went or if they came back). Surprisingly obvious with Semipalmated Plovers to compare with. Slightly larger and paler (color more noticeable in life than in photos) with a blocky head. Bill was obviously longer and had more orange. Legs a brighter orange. Supercilium much more distinct, could not see any orbital ring (which was visible on at least some of the Semis). Breast band clearly thicker at all times, although the occasional other bird came close for a moment here and there. Video stills appear to show lack of palmations, although I'm still verifying. More photos (and probably adding more http://www.flickr.com/photos/brewsterslinnet/sets/72157633554782879/
