Observation details
This estimate is very conservative; there may have been as many as 50 or more present. I saw some at the spot where we usually see them (about 1 km east of the last buoy), but while scanning the horizon I noticed there were larger groups 500-1000 m to my east. I asked the boatsman to go there, and that is how we encountered the line of driftwood. From that moment on, there were multiple Black Storm-Petrels in view at all times, one time as many as 14. The majority was flying into the light wind along the line of the driftwood/garbage, so in SW direction. Twice I noticed a small raft of birds resting but mostly they were busy feeding.
