Observation details
Sandhill or Common or hybrid cranes, or some combination of those three categories: at least 14 of them. Although the group was likely all Sandhill Cranes, due to distance, we were unable to say with any legitimacy whether the group we were seeing contained Commons or hybrids. (Several years prior to this, a escaped Common Crane and some hybrids were regulars in this area of Cumberland county.) These were previously recorded under "bird sp." for lack of a better option. eBird introduced "crane sp." in the August 2015 taxonomy update. As of 2017, there is no "Sandhill/Common Crane" category.
