A Tree Martin perching and preening on dead twig. Tree Martins (Petrochelidon nigricans) are a common and widespread species, and are found throughout Australia. They are found in a range of habitats, but require trees with hollows for nesting, although they also use artificial crevices, and are often found in large numbers around human settlements. This adult Tree Martin was perching and energetically preening on a dead branch in the sun on Wooleen Station, in the semi-arid Murchison area of mid- Western Australia. Elevation: 293 m. Date added to IBC: July 2, 2019.
