Adult and juvenile Green Wood-hoopoes feeding in leaf litter. Green Wood-hoopoes (Phoeniculus purpureus) travel together in noisy flocks of 2-14 birds. They eat insects, centipedes, frogs and geckoes and also take fruit and nectar. This red-billed adult was feeding with a black-billed juvenile in leaf litter in the Satara Restcamp in south-central Kruger National Park. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: April 21, 2019.
