A Grey Plover feeding on the strandline at Coodanup, Peel Inlet. The Grey (or Black-bellied) Plover (Pluvialis squatarola) is a non-breeding migrant to Australia from the Arctic in the southern summer. Grey Plovers are seen in small numbers on the estuaries of southern Western Australia, where they hunt small invertebrates along the strandline. This bird was one of three at Coodanup on the eastern shore of Peel Inlet. It stopped feeding occasionally to drive away a nearby Grey-tailed Tattler. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: March 22, 2019.
