Juvenile Sharp-tailed Sandpiper: vagrant in western USA. The Sharp-tailed Sandpiper is a rare visitor to western United States. Two, very rare, were found the day before this short video was taken. It associated with Pectoral Sandpipers in the muddy edge of Fern Ridge Reservoir which was being drained in preparation for the winter rains. This particular mud flat is frequently a good place for vagrants. It is located north of Royal Avenue and west of the gate, which closes Royal to vehicle traffic. Elevation: 113 m. Date added to IBC: September 24, 2018.
