A Common Potoo (red morph) perching on its nest log. The strange Common Potoo (Nyctibius griseus) is perfectly camouflaged and is difficult to find. Potoos nest in a shallow depression or knot-hole in the vertical dead branch of a tree, sitting perfectly still and watching for danger through a slitted eye. This red morph of the Common Potoo was perched on its nest in the privately-owned Karadya Birding Lodge and Reserve in Misiones, Argentina. Elevation: 400 m. Date added to IBC: February 16, 2019.
