A male Greater Yellow-Finch hopping on the ground. The Greater Yellow-Finch (Sicalis auriventris) is an alpine species that is common in the Andes above Santiago. Greater Yellow-Finches nest in rock cracks or in cracks in the walls of buildings. This male Greater Yellow-Finch was hopping around in the carpark at the Valle Nevado Ski Resort in the high Andes above Santiago, looking for food. Elevation: 3024 m.
