Media notes
A Crimson-breasted Gonolek (or Shrike) hopping amongst leafy branches and calling. The gorgeous Crimson-breasted Shrike (or Gonolek) (Laniarius atrococcineus) is a reasonably common resident species in semi-arid thornveld in southern Africa. That said, they are often difficult to photograph because they tend to lurk in dense, twiggy vegetation. This bird was hopping through the leafy branches of a thorn Acacia calling. Elevation: 1089 m. Date added to IBC: February 13, 2019.
