A Red-gartered Coot swimming and feeding amongst emergent Myriophyllum in a pond. The Red-gartered Coot (Fulica armillata) is one of several coot species found in freshwater habitats including swamps and lakes in southern South America. They feed on aquatic plants and small aquatic invertebrates. This Red-gartered Coot was swimming and feeding amongst emergent Myriophyllum in a pond near the Nordenskjöld Lookout in Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. Elevation: 1264 m.
