A male Rufous-collared Sparrow southern race feeding on the ground and calling. The Rufous-collared Sparrow (Zonotrichia capensis) is widespread throughout South America, occurring from the tropics to Patagonia. This male is the southern form (Zonotrichia capensis australis) with an all-grey (instead of white-striped) cap and face. He was hopping amongst short grass and wildflowers, feeding and occasionally pausing to call. Elevation: 154 m. Date added to IBC: March 4, 2019.
