Media notes
A Northern Giant Petrel soaring off Gold Harbour, South Georgia. The Northern Giant Petrel (Macronectes halli) is difficult to distinguish from its sibling species, the Southern Giant Petrel (Macronectes giganteus). The easiest distinguishing feature is the Northern Giant Petrel’s reddish bill tip – Southern Giant Petrels have greenish bill tips. This bird was soaring around our ship off the coast of South Georgia near Gold Harbour. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: February 11, 2019.
