White-tufted Grebe pair swimming - with a chick on the male’s back. White-tufted Grebes (Rollandia rolland chilensis) are found in freshwater wetlands in southern South America and the Falkland Islands. The male, leading this rapidly swimming pair is carrying a chick on his back – its head pops out from time to time, near the edge of the road in Laguna Kilometro 92 on Ruta 9 between Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales in southern Chile. Elevation: 22 m. Date added to IBC: February 7, 2019.
