A White-tufted Grebe swimming in open water. White-tufted Grebes (Rollandia r. rolland) are fairly common on freshwater ponds in the Falkland Islands. Unlike other grebe species, White-tufted Grebes are curious – this one continued to swim towards me as I videoed it under typically windy summer conditions in the Falklands. The red waterweed is Milfoil, (Myriophyllum quitense). Elevation: 49 m. Date added to IBC: February 7, 2019.
