Crested Pigeons preening, walking and feeding on grass. The Crested Pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes) is a common inland bird in Australia and has become common in urban areas since the 1970s. Like most pigeons, Crested Pigeons must drink every day and are rarely far from water. Crested Pigeons are seed eaters and take a range of native seeds as well as those of weeds and introduced agricultural crops. These Crested Pigeons were preening, walking and feeding on Kikuyu Grass lawn on the edge of Herdsman Lake near Perth, Western Australia. Elevation: 7 m. Date added to IBC: July 19, 2018.
