A Bridled Tern entering its concealed nest. The Bridled Tern (Onychoprion anaethetus) is widely distributed around the northern coast of Australia and reaches its southern limit in Geographe Bay, about 200 km south of Perth. Bridled Terns breed on several limestone islands of the southern coast of Western Australia. This adult tern entered its concealed nest under thick sand dune vegetation on Penguin Island, south of Perth. Elevation: 11 m. Date added to IBC: July 12, 2018.
Observation details
IBC scientific name: Onychoprion anaethetus anaethetus. Breeding in burrows dug amongst coastal vegetation on sand dunes
