Media notes
A Plumbeous Kite chick in its nest. The Plumbeous Kite (Ictinia plumbea) is widespread in northern South America east of the Andes. Plumbeous Kites occupy a wide range of forest types, with insects being their main prey. Nests are built in tall trees and are used season after season. Both parents share in raising their usually single chick. This large Plumbeous Kite chick peered at me as I videoed it in its nest near the Karadya Birding Lodge. Elevation: 400 m. Date added to IBC: February 20, 2019.
Observation details
A female Plumbeous Kite perching and preening near her nest containing a single large chick.
