A male Diederik Cuckoo perching, preening and calling. This male Diederik Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx caprius) was perching in a Sicklebush (Dicrostachys cinerea) at Sunset Dam in Kruger Park in the early morning sun, preening and calling. Diederik Cuckoos migrate to Kruger in the summer wet season (September to March) to breed where they parasitise a range of species, particularly weavers, sparrows and bishops. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: June 3, 2018.
