Thick-billed Weaver female in the nest with the male displaying below her. The Thick-billed Weaver (Amblyospiza albifrons) builds one of the most finely constructed nests of any species of weaver. This pair was nesting in Phragmites rushes at Ratelpan Hide on the edge of the Timbavati River in Kruger Park. The female seemed to have accepted the nest and was inside it while the male made his harsh song perched on a reed below. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: May 4, 2018.
