Media notes
King Penguins - moulting and preening. Volunteer Point is one of the few places on the Falkland Islands that has a King penguin rookery – on grassland. In November, many of the adults come ashore to moult and do not return to sea to feed until their moult is complete. Most of the adults were in moult, and the ground was littered in moulted feathers. A pair of Ruddy-headed Geese (Chloephaga rubidiceps) are grazing in the background. Elevation: 140 m. Date added to IBC: January 11, 2018.
