Media notes
Shift change in parental nest care with a "breaking and entering" by two Red-billed Choughs (see Comments below for more details). As the chick gets older, the parents leave it alone in the nest during their shifts for longer periods of time, although at the beginning they remain vigilant, while flying near the nest. In this case, the 37-day-old chick had been left alone for about 15 minutes when two Red-billed Choughs landed in the nesting area to forage. Shortly after, they went further inside, to the point that the chick adopted a defensive posture, raising its wings, when one flew above it. When they were discovered by the other parent, who immediately headed towards the nest, the choughs fled quickly. Elevation: 1338 m. Date added to IBC: April 30, 2018.
