Media notes
A bird perched in a palm tree, at night. This taxon was so poorly known until recently that it was considered a subspecies of the Marbled Frogmouth. A recent revision showed that they are not even closely related, and that it is not only a different species, but that it shall be assigned to a new monotypic genus. So, its correct name now is Solomon Frogmouth (Rigidipenna inexpectata). You can appreciate its distinctive morphology comparing this video with those of real Marbled Frogmouths. Elevation: 521 m. Date added to IBC: June 23, 2016.
