Red-crowned Parakeet (Cyanoramphus novaezelandiae novaezelandiae) foraging in branches of Totara tree. Recent taxonomic revision has reduced number of recognised subspecies from 8 to 5 (including 1 extinct - Lord Howe). 3 closely related taxa, C.saisseti (New Caledonia), C.cookii (Norfolk Island) and C.hochstetteri (Antipodes Island) are now considered to be seperate species.
