Media notes
Presumed territorial threat display from a male. I was between two (apparent) males engaged in the same behavior. This is the second time I've witnessed this behavior from this species (the other time in Chiapas). It seems to be some kind of aggression display. Bowing and spreading of the wings and tail is accompanied by low-pitched, grating growls, all followed by a short sprint to a new location on the forest floor. The ordeal then starts all over again in 5–8 seconds. Red-capped Manakin and Brown-capped Tyrannulet heard in the background. Elevation: 72 m. Date added to IBC: June 23, 2016.
