Observation details
Continuing bird, smaller than 2 Common Loons near it when we first located it in the very rough water in strong north-northeast winds out from the end of Red Dot. Very rounded head and smaller, narrower-looking bill compared to Commons, also dark side of neck continued down without any white jutting into dark area, and we finally got a look at its chin strap when it stopped diving for a short time. Will add some distant photos taken while it was up for one of those brief times. The rough water showed us only its head and neck most of the time. It was a life bird for me! Thanks to Andy Bell for keeping in touch with me about the sightings of the bird and advising me to try for it when winds were from the north that would hopefully push it toward the Red Dot area. And thanks to Terry for persevering in the extremely cold winds to locate the bird for us.
