Observation details
Mom didn't flush until I nearly stumbled over the "nest" while out doing field work. Chicks were too adorable not to snap a picture before I beat a hasty retreat. Mom was doing a distraction display a few feet away, so I'm sure she came back very quickly. Responsible scientist says please avoid disturbing active nest sites.
