Observation details
***LIFER*** This is the third ever record for this species in Tioga County. The first sighting was in 1958 and the other was a sighting during a Christmas Bird Count in the 60's. The data came from a member of the Tioga County Bird Club. This is the third day of sighting of this species at this location. There were 6 people on hand observing the bird when we arrived. It spent the entire time in the apple tree next to the house. I first spotted a bird with a grey back, thinking at first that it looked like a robin. Then I saw the orange face with a distinct black eye stripe. This Varied Thrush was very cooperative, allowing us to get many photos.
