Observation details
Bird found on the 27th by Tom Fangrow. Willows and dead sycamore where originally found are here. 33.604442, -117.673102 or https://goo.gl/maps/duiQRpJGvbL35hCA9 as opposed to over by the railroad tracks where the local hotspot is being used. Large Myiarchus flycatcher with black bill and legs and dark eye. Head and upperparts washed an olive brown. Chin and breast are grey with yellow underparts. Primaries have rufous. Tertials and other upper wings feathers have a lot of light edging. Tail was brown and rufous colored. A couple of the upper tail feathers were short and growing in. Bird did not vocalize for the majority of time I was there, but did eventually call for us. The bird moved around a very large area. From the wash, north to the neighborhood and over houses into backyards, then back to the wash, around the Mr. Olive church parkinglot, to across the street to the other parking lots, but eventually returning to the willow area. If you don't find it at first, I would just be patient and stake out the willow area.
