Observation details
Heard giving "chit" calls in a sedge stand with a fringe of willows. I coaxed it into view with some pishing, and was able to observe the solid chocolate brown cap, cocked tail (suggesting wren), white streaks on the back, and bold white superciliary line. No other North American wren has this combination of traits. About 200 m away in similar habitat, we heard another set of "chit" calls, but were unable to get good looks as the second bird moved from place to place. The calls and behavior suggested a second Marsh Wren.
