Observation details
Large falcon. Pointed long slender wings. Grayish brown back, buffy/roufus underside. Underside also had dark streaks suggesting a juvenile. The bird was very fast, and attacked geese and ducks having several unsuccessful attempts. It was large enough that I initially thought it was a harrier at a longer distance, but the bird lacked a white rump. Eventually, the bird flew overhead within 15m giving good perspective on size, shape and color. Wing span was similar to or slightly larger compared to swimming Canada Goose when distant. Apologies for the bad pictures but this bird was fast, the sky was overcast, and I should have cranked up my shutter speed. The bird was too large to be a Merlin.
