Observation details
Very late. Foraging while calling on ground at edge of boat ramp area wetland impoundment near eastern corner (37.668607, -78.716984). Pished in close allowing for good looks for about fifteen seconds with and without binoculars from about ten feet away. Buffy waterthrush with crisp breast and flank streaks. Audio obtained (with background NOCAs) but no photos. Average state departure is early October with all birds gone by the end of that month. No current eBird records in Virginia from November through March; however, there are several historic winter records from coastal plain CBCs in December.
