Observation details
Finally! Continuing individual and lifer! Total of over ten hours have been spent searching for this little guy by me, and I'm glad I got to finally see it! Just as I was losing hope of seeing it today, at 3:24 PM a bird that immediately caught my eye flew in and landed by the edge of the retention basin. I alerted Todd Fellenbaum who was also searching and he and I confirmed it was the flycatcher. We went over and the flycatcher suprisingly cooperated very well and put on quite a show! Constantly caught insects and re-perched back on the fencing surrounding the retention basin completely out in the open. Great photo op! At one point, the flycatcher caught a wasp and sat for a minute with it in its mouth for great pictures. The bird was visible for a total of nine minutes before a Northern Mockingbird suddenly showed up and chased it off. I couldn't relocate it.
