Observation details
A large, bulky tern with a long, very heavy bright orange-red bill and a black cap that was fading to white at the base of the bill (post breeding molt). The bird had a light grey mantle and upper wing surfaces. Seen well from within 125 m as it flew above the marsh. The bird was likely part of a large cohort of birds displaced to NS by Hurricane Dorian. Photos attached.
