Observation details
A single bird was sighted in the reeds in a fields near a waterbody. The location has lot of tall reeds but no jungle or thick cluster of trees. The bird had stouter bill than a Plain or Ashy Prinia. The supercilium was absent. It had long graduated tail. The bird was shy and didn't give much opportunity for photographing and only 1 reasonable image could be captured. In the field the bird was visually identified as a Jungle Prinia. However the white ring around the eye was a variation from the normal plumage. The image was uploaded on Ask ID (Facebook) and in WhatsApp birding group. Opinions have been for a Jungle Prinia though the prominent white ring around the eye remains unexplained. It could be an abnormal variation of a Jungle Prinia or a separate species/sub-species. eBird experts may like to take a call
