Observation details
While standing in the tower, a Prairie Falcon came flying right past us heading S then spun around in the wind and started coming back N but was immediately attacked by an adult Peregrine. It eventually lost the Peregrine and came flying directly at us and flew within 30 feet of us at the top of the tower! The falcon continued N and we lost it. Equal in size to the Peregrine but with blunt wingtips, sandy-brown topside, and black armpits with black extending out the underwing coverts and carpals. Only managed some poor iPhone shots but the fieldmarks are shown. Only the 2nd record for SPI but the other record was this past Oct 3rd, suggesting a continuing/wintering individual...
