Observation details
Small coot like bird with gray head and neck, lighter grayish-white throat, dark eye, short dark bill with slightly curved upper mandible (some light reddish area in middle) and straight lower mandible. Darker gray-reddish-brown back with white edge to outer wings and a short coot like tail, which is white underneath. Lower abdomen was white. In central part of the lake just S of the point. Seen by several birders.
