Media notes

An extensive series of recordings of three birds (two males, one female). Birds arrived at this breeding site three days before this recording and were actively setting up territories and claiming nest boxes. Recordings contain the "Churr Call," "Chatter Call," and "Alarm Call" as described in the BNA account, as well as drumming. The drumming (more frequent at the end of the recording) includes two different patterns, with the second patten containing 3-5 slow individual taps after an initial series of taps. The segment beginning at 6:25 of the recording contains calls given during copulation or attempted copulation. The segment beginning at 10:37 contains sounds given during an interaction between three birds (two males and one female). The segment beginning at 17:45 contains calls given during another attempted copulation. ML: 100 Hz AUHipass filter applied to several of the later segments of the recording. Other Behaviors: Bill Drumming.
