Observation details
Adult southbound. Extremely stable in very brisk winds. Wings not plank-like and head/bill too small to fit bald eagle. Trailing edges not neat enough nor color dark enough to be a first-year bald eagle. Not white on the belly, not white in the pits. Bird seen from above and below. Golden nape clearly visible as seen from above, bird is clearly browner than a young bald eagle. Very clear bright skies and very stiff winds made for tough photos, but two are included with this report.
