Media notes

Calls from a lone male attempting to set up a territory amongst a colony of Western Gulls. Often holding a stick in the bill and occasionally giving display calls. When Western Gulls would get too close, it would rush them, giving the harsh calls heard in the first segment of this recording. Hissing sounds in the second segment are the bird giving an apparent display call, with raised head. Guttural calls heard in the third segment are given in response to the presence of a Western Gull. Only soft calls in fourth segment. Wing sounds as the bird flies off can be heard in the fifth segment. ML: 150 Hz AUHipass filter applied in soundBlade HD. Other Behaviors: Threaten, Displace, Emit Agonistic Call, Perform Visual Display.
