Observation details
Poor photo taken at from across the river, below Dardanelle Lock & Dam. Appeared to be an adult Black Tern that was just starting to molt. ALL BLACK underparts, white underwing, back, crown and entire upperside was charcoal gray. Appeared to maybe have just a touch of white above the eye. Was loafing with large group of Ring-bills, Herring and Lesser Black-backed Gulls until a dog appeared and chased the flock out onto the water. Watched as it flew for some time until it was joined by a group of 5 Franklins Gulls and moved west over the dam.
