Observation details
RL's response when I asked him to verify Thayer's: I'd say a good candidate for a Thayer's. Primaries slightly darker than body, not black like a Herring. The light tips on the primaries. Little bit of smudginess around the eye. Smooth looking breast not heavily mottled like a Herring. Even patterning over the mantle. And, lastly, the all dark but not too heavy looking bill. Overall a sleek looking bird unlike a Herring. Also remember that most if not all juvie to 1st year gulls have pink legs.
