Observation details
2 birds at -6.936066, 37.710419 (c.1210 metres asl); Rather remarkably, given that immature plumages are undescribed, we saw 2 different looking individuals in what presumably must have been immature plumages. One was very grim looking; greenish-olive above, dark grey on crown and dull greyish below, tending to olive on vent. The second bird was more like a dull version of an adult, with strongly yellowish underparts, but totally lacking the black cap which was instead concolorous with the mantle. On structure they were both clearly Malaconotus Bushshrikes and they acted as a pair, including performing a duet. See attached photos (Note Alan Lewis has much sharper photos - these have been released on his twitter account alan lewis wildlife stuff @LewisStuff ). Andy Marshall has recordings of the birds. If anyone has any comments or alternative theories regarding the birds appearance please feel free to contact me (my contact details are on my profile page).
