Observation details
Seen and photographed. Saw the most incredible series of events - Accidentally flushed him out of a bush while walking past it. He popped out of the bush and onto the ground a few feet from me where I got a quick photograph. Being uncomfortably close, he then flew onto a broken branch that was about 3 feet off the ground a little further away and sat in broad daylight. A nearby Shikra noticed the movement, and within a second the Shikra attacked him! I saw them both in the air for a fraction of a second before the nightjar nosedived and the shikra flew past! (I even tracked the shikra in flight to make check if he caught the nightjar or not. His feet were empty.) No luck spotting the nightjar again.
