Observation details
Additional photos in this album. [https://www.flickr.com/gp/malcolmgold/92T671] The primaries seem to extend beyond the tail in some of the photos when the bird is in a resting position. That mark, and the droopy thick tipped bill, suggests Short-billed. The timing of appearance, the length of bill (2x head), rufous edges to scapulars but only faintly red elsewhere, the slightly indented back, white crescent under the eye, and overall muted color on chest and flanks. Gene helped me understand the bill flexibility is such that the general shape at the tip is not robust.
