Observation details
Very odd place, but that’s fall migration! In weeds and flowers around buildings, along with garbage can and roof. Chunky, flat head with central white crown stripe. Slightly Buffy breast with faint streaks on upper flanks. Even though this species was confirmed by our decription, in reviewing our photos and input on the photos from Scott Hickman and Zach Gayk, we have changed it to Le Conte"s Sparrow, from Grasshopper Sparrow. Photos show bold stripes on back, ends of tail feathers sharply pointed rather than rounded, some rufous in wing, and gray coming into face. Sorry for "pulling the trigger" too soon on our ID!
