Observation details
Vic pointed Heron out to class on West side of Pond A, and originally found by Jim Kendall a few minutes earlier at Pond C. This is a small heron about the size of a Snowy Egret, with rusty color neck sporting a mixed white and rusty stripe from chin to the pure white belly. White color reaches up and around the shoulder. Long dagger-like beak with a blackish upper mandible and a yellow lower mandible. Yellow lore. Rusty patches on gray back and wings. Yellow legs. Digiscope photo at 8:59 am.
